Pre-Sentence Reports
New For Agency Staff
We run regular training sessions in central London on Saturdays, exclusively for temporary and agency staff seeking to widen their skills and knowledge base.
Due to demand and agency interest, we are now offering a unique opportunity for temporary staff working with young people to increase their chances of finding work in specialist youth justice settings.
These courses benefit the individual and the agency in a number of ways, through greater earning potential for workers and higher rates of successful placement for agencies.
People already working in YOTs sometimes face barriers moving into specialist post-court services, while others – youth workers, those in substance misuse settings for example – often find it difficult to move into YOTs in the first place.
We recognise there a large numbers of agency staff, variable professional backgrounds in various roles – including workers from overseas with transferable professional skills and qualifications who would benefit from this type of training but who find it difficult to access due to current demands on their working roles.
This training is specifically designed to fit round the working commitments and we recognise that agency staff cannot afford to take time out of their weekly work patterns, both for financial and organisational commitments
With this training, we provide practitioners with the key, practical skills to make a full assessment of a young person – their needs, risk of harm and their likelihood of offending – to feed into writing reports of a suitable quality. The knowledge and skills gained on this course will assist trainees in writing both Pre Sentence and Referral Order Reports.
Training is delivered by current YOT managers, with experience of supervising young offenders, PSR writing and court work. Together with a legal advisor (Chief Clerk) from one London’s Youth Courts, we cover:
- Report writing skills
- Assessment (Asset)
- Risk Assessment (Rosh, RMP, VMP)
- YRO / Scaled Approach
Conversion Courses
Conversion courses are ideally suited to those who may be transferring from Probation or who have experience of similar youth justice systems such as those workers who previously practiced in Australia.
Training programmes cover introduction to the Youth Justice System in England and Wales, YOT/YOS structure, Safeguarding, Asset, Risk Assessments, PSR, YRO, Scaled Approach.
